Ticking and rattling under acceleration 200 1985

ARGH, i have a 1985 240, and for all intents and purposes, it is in great condition, however, the engine makes a really bad ticking sound whenever it is running, and increases in volume and speed when it is revved. There is also some serious vibration and banging sounds under heavy load and acceleration. as the revs get higher, the clunking gets more severe. I sure hope its nothing serious.
any help would be much appreaciated.

Chris

PS i keep frying the fuse for the day-running lamps. any ideas why?
