dead 242T 200 1982

I acquired a "new" 242t last fall and have been working my way through it .
Tonite I have a car that died and will not restart...no STARTUP LIGHTS(turbo light, oil pressure light etc) on dash, engine will not crank, acts as if the battery is completely dead BUT headlights are bright as well as brake lights and main dash lights. This condition came about after I accidently hit the high beam stalk with my arm while idling and the car died. Now the high beam stalk has vitually no effect on the function of the high/low beams(will only cause them to toggle between high/low about 1 in 50 or more attepts).
This did happen once about 3 months ago and I was able to finally restart the car after repeatedly switching the high beam stalk between high/low(on this prior occassion I had also inavertently hit the high beam stalk while backing up). After this first episode I replaced the high beam stalk with another that I had in stock with no problems until today.
To make matters more confusing, this 242t has a Clifford alarm installed although its' fuses were removed by the p.o. I have spoken to the p.o. to ask about the possible existance of a kill switch but he is unaware of any kill switch on the car.
I know this may sound somewhat confusing but I tried to avoid writing a book sized description of the problem. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Dan
