Busted Stud - what to do next? 700 1989

If you decide to pull the engine, I would replace all seals, washers, and gaskets, and also oil pump, as the car already has 165K on it. Or you could leave the engine in, and remove just the head. Changing the pan gasket with the motor in the car isn't easy, but possible. Maybe remove the downpipe and try to drill out the stud. If you don't succeed, then decide to remove head or pull motor.
