m46 overdrive ground? 200

Just picked up a `76 242 w/manual tranny which won't engage the overdrive. Switch appears to work (light comes on), but no "click". Shows 12v at both overdrive solenoid terminals...
Newby question is: OD wiring @ solenoid appears to have hot/positive terminal bridged to double-spade (female) connector @ neutral/ground w/a resistor (?), second terminal empty. Is the empty terminal a missing ground, if so, where should it connect? I don't see any ground wire on preliminary inspection.
