Panel behind second seat 200

My 1988 245 has a panel (perhaps 4' wide and 1' high) behind the second seat which is hinged to the floor in the back; the panel folds forward when the second seat is folded down, and it bridges between the back floor and the back of the second seat, so the whole interior floor is flat.

When the second seat is up, however, this panel just flops down backwards onto the back floor. It seems as though it ought to stay up, flat against the (vertical) second seat back, but I can't find anything (a bracket? a spring? a rubber dingus?) that would hold it up.

Does the panel stay up in yours? How is it held up?
