part # 89244-8 -- fuel sending guage, broken spring, how can it be fixed? 444-544 1959

My 59 PV 544 has a busted part, the #89244-8 -- fuel sending guage. This part goes in the tank but it is not working since the spring that signals the movement of the float to the sending unit is broken. Is there anyone that knows how it can be fixed or where I can find another one (6V).
