Tie rod end 700 1989

Okay- I was able to remove both nuts that secure the tie rod end but I cannot get the thing out from its position at the strut. The theaded post that goes through the strut/balljoint assembly will not budge. Can I just hammer away at it, to force it down? I placed a bottle jack under the balljoint and jacked up a bit but still no luck. I tried a pickle fork as well. Is it just being stubborn or am I missing something? Could someone give me the green light to go at this thing full force. This is the last job in my Easter reconditioning project. Thanks for any information, it is always appreciated.
