Stereo/power problems with 1989 244 DL 200

Hey everyone,

Just last week I installed an amp and subwoofer in my 1989 Volvo 244 DL. Its a 680W Jensen Amp hooked up to a 12' Pioneer sub and two 6x6 Pinwood speakers. The amp is 4-channel so I have an individual channel to each 6x6 and two channels bridged for the subwoofer.

Now heres the problem. For the past week the system has been working wonderful. All the sudden today the stereo and the whole system is cutting out intermittantly. When it happens the whole stereo turns off almost as if the car were being turned off. WHen this happens the sound goes out also. But the thing is it comes back on and then goes back off and keeps doing it. I'm pretty sure it's power related somehow. On my stereo I turned off the Bass and Treble boost and that seemed to make it stop for the most part. BUt sometimes when i do things like use the turning signal etc. the stereo will cut out again for that time being.

I checked the wires and the fuses and they are intact. I watche dthe amp while it would cut out and the amp stays on even when the stereo and sound cut out. So it appears to be a problem with the stereo not drawing enough power. I was thinking to fix this problem I would need a new battery, maybe even have to get a more powerful one? What do you guys (and gals probably) think?

Thanks in advance,
Trevor
