Transmission mount

I have a '87 745 turbo and the transmission mount is gone. It's an automatic transmission. I purchased a new one today and was going to install it this evening but I'm not certain as the orientation of the mount on the transmission. I think the PO had the last one in upside down. Does the rubber part of the mount connect to the transmission or the cross member. The PO had the rubber pointed down. It's the triangler shaped one, not round.
