loss of power under throttle and HOT exhaust manifold 700 1990

My 90 745 GL has been running great until the other day on the freeway in a strong headwind it just began running very feebly. It would barely hold 65mph.
I stopped because I needed gas anyway and the exh manifold was glowing a pale red where cylinders 2 and 3 feed.
It ran great all the way home.
I suspected ignition parts and did the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires(all the best stuff from eEuroparts)and tonight I still 6otice that just to go down the road and light acceleration it runs strong, but, almost intermittently, under load it seems to lose 1/2 power(even the exhaust note seems to change)and struggle like crazy. Just tonight on the road test it did this and again the exh man at Cyl 2 & 3 was just glowing pink.
Ideas on what to inspect or check next?
Thanks in advance for any input.
-Brent
