I need advice setting my timing and idle mixture 200 1983

I have done a number of repairs to my B23F 83 240. I have done the injectors and throttle body, replaced plugs and cap/rotor, line pressure regulator, new ground line to in tank pump, new seals on dipsticks, all new vacuum lines, and a new wiring harness.

Now I was able to get the car to run, but only with the vacuum line to the chrysler ignition unit disconnected. The car ran like this, but would rev above idle sometimes while driving, then quit. It would then start right back up. I got a timing light, and found that it was at 5 degrees BTDC. I tried to adjust it, and now it won't run. I don't have a tach, is it necessary. Should I have a shop do the work? I am also trying to set the idle mixture. I rigged an LED light test setup according to Bentley. Any sugggestions?

Thanks,
Seth Johnson
