Turn signal causing electrical problems. 200 1984

waiting for the light to change at the intersection i noticed my turn signal wasn't working...then i noticed my car was stalled and the check battery light was on. i started it up and pulled throught the intersection. i signaled to change lanes and the car turned off and the check battery light turned on again. i got the car going again and drove home using hand signals. now the car is in my driveway. i started it again and using the turn signal caused it to turn off once more and now i can't even start it. also for many months prior to this the check battery light would flash on brieflr whenever i used the turn signals.

thank you

justin
