Ignition switch question??? 200 1980

Hi Chuck,
No, I don't think it has anything to do with the ignition switch. Try a test
light on the coil. One side should light the light solid while cranking(+).
The negative side should flash the test light. If it doesn't flash the test
light you need to check the ignition box. You want to check the magnetic
trigger in the distributor.

Checking the negative side of the coil to see if the testlight would flash tells you how to isolate whether it is the primary circuit or the secondary circuit. If it flashes you have to check the coil and the other secondary parts, like the distributor cap, rotor, and wires, or even the plugs could be fouled. If the testlight doesn't flash you have to check the primary circuit like the signal from the distributor, the ignition box, and the power
supplied to the box. What does a test light do on the ignition coil while
the motor is cranked for starting? Email me if you want info from my problem
