*DEAD VOLVO* Praying for a miracle! 200 1985

I HAve a 1985 240 wagon, and she was the love of my life (except for my previous 2) Anyway, a while back she started making this high pitched whining noise. I asked several people what they thought it could be and they all said it sounded like a belt thing. During this time I was also experiencing oil leakage, but as a long time volvo owner(and knowing that some have an addiction for various fluids), I just kept putting more in and trying to keep her happy. The noise however was a big concern. I didnt want to drive the car until I found out what the problem was, but a kitten emergency forced me to do so against my better judgement. So I threw a Quart of oil in, and was off. The noise kept on. On my way home the car lost electricity then stopped. Wouldnt crank, no turn over. I had it towed home where a "mechanic" "friend" told me the engine siezed and insisted I was neglectful of refilling my oil, which I was not. So the car is dead, has been dead. Is there any way he was wrong? Is there anything I can do? I have a engine I could put in it, But there is no way I can afford such a thing. Anyone who has any imput would greatly appreciated! I still have hope, even if just a glimmer. Thanks!
