Ignition switch question??? 200 1980

it sounds like the pickup coil in the distributor is bad. the ignition key is acting as your points, thats why you get a spark when you shut it off. your obviously getting voltage to the coil. when you turn on the key voltage saturates the windings in the coil and then you shut off the key the elecromagnetic field in the coil is collapsed and it sparks. its basic igniton theory.
