Oh, and I forgot to add, if your dealer is uncooperative.. take the lock to the locksmith. It should be trivial for them to cut a key from the lock. The only problem you might run into is when you want to use the key from the glove box lock elsewhere. On the later x6x cars (taking my friend's car as an example here) the door locks used n number of pins in the lock, the ignition n+3.
