Check engine light 240 200 1989

Need some help. My 89' 240 been showing the check engine light. This has been on going a month. The code sez too rich a mixture. Changed the Ox sensor,
cleaned the throttle body (this cured it a while back) Changed fuel filter etc.
When the check engine light comes on the engine runs ok, but idle is about 1000
rpm. Remove the battery cable to reset the computer and the engine runs rough
too rich like the choke is on. Checked the air mass and resistance looks ok,
visual shows the wire still there. This is driving me nuts anybody had a similar problem? All suggestions appreciated. Thanks
