Banging from transmission 200

Hi,
I just removed a fender from my brother's 'totalled' car and installed the new radiator so I could drive it. It moves forward without pressing the gas with no problems, but as soon as I press the gas, there is a bang bang noise from the middle of the car. When I step on the gas in reverse, there is no problem. Any idea what's going on? I only drove the car like this about 2 meters.

P.S. It was towed to my house on the rear wheels, supposidly in neutral, but it could have possibly been in another gear because the selector is now a little out of adjustment
