REPLACING WORN PISTON RINGS 200

MY WIFES 1982 GOLD 240GL IS BLOWING SMALL AMOUNTS OF BLUE SMOKE IN THE MORNING WHEN SHE STARTS IT UP. IAM ASSUMING IT HAS WORN PISTON RINGS AND IS ALLOWING TRACE AMOUNTS OF OIL INTO THE CYL WALLS...HOW HARD IS THIS FOR A NOVICE MECHANIC, LIKE MYSELF, TO DO ON MY OWN? I HAVE CONFIDENCE IN MY ABILITY, BUT IF I START TO DIG IN TO THIS PROJECT AND RELIZE I MIGHT BE IN OVER MY HEAD...I DONT WANT TO SCREW MYSELF. MY UNCLE OWNS ALAMO VOLVO HERE IN PORTLAND OREGON, WOULD I BE BETTER BUGGING HIM AND ASKING THEM TO TAKE CARE OF IT?
