1990 Instrument Cluster...Can It Be Interchanged With Other Years? 200

BrickHeadz,
Last week I asked if the clear plastic lens on my 1990 240dl instrument cluster could be replaced. The popular opinion was to just replace the entire unit because the clear lens is plastic rivited to the fascia -and probably impossible to remove. Besides, the opportunity to upgrade to a version with a tachometer, and the installation of white faces, is almost irresistable... So, my question is: what year(s) will interchange with my car? I think the number on the speedo is k10042. Is that an important factor in any alteration? As always, muchas gracias.
