half cup of oil out of the oil cooler coolant drain, followed by coolant 900 1995

How can this be?
Car had sat for 6 weeks. No milky oil on the oil cap. No coolant came out of the oil pan as I removed the plug to change oil. Oil looked dark brown, like it needed changing. Coolant tank was down maybe an inch after driving 1800(6 weeks ago) miles. Oil was checked at every fill up. No oil used nor mily looking oil on the dipstick. No stains in the coolant tank. Coolant nice and green. Front crank seal was leaking with a tiny bright green speck maybe a sixteenth inch in accross on the leaking seal. Seal had just been replaced by a "very good mechanic". No smoke from the exhaust. I have most of the manuals but still can't quite make peace with this. Car has 100,000 miles on it.
thanks,
Bill
