Random Stalling - where to start? (sic) 900 1993

This seems to have been an increasing problem for at least a few weeks that my wife neglected to mention with the 155K 93 940 Turbo wagon she's been driving.

Symptons are: tach momentarily drops to "0" with a "blip" in power and, until until recently, has resumed normal function, ie, never died enough to require manual restart. However, returning home this morning with a load of lumber that necessitated the wagon, the following: a few blips in tach/power, then failure with the warning lights all on, but would restart after a minute with difficulty (ie, seems like a few plugs would fire, then more until its smoothe). Seemed to run better if I kept the revs higher, but 5 minutes isn't long enough to be sure.

I'd guess an electrical/ignition rather than fuel problem, but I would welcome any suggestions. I am not above replacing a part or two if there's a chance it would be the cause. Cheaper that indy shop labor, and it is 10 years old with 155K. Thanks
