New heater valve 200

I need to replace the heater control valve in an '88 240. Since the old style is hard to come by and expensive to come by I bought the new style which runs the coolant thru in a straight path istead of the old 90 degree style. I can't figure out the thing even though it should be pretty straigt forward.

There is a hose, a bracket, a adhesive backed piece of foam and a small plastic clip with the kit. Also a cable and the valve.
Can anyone tell me what the secret is?
