Cleaning around engine etc 1989 244 DL 200

Hey all,

Spring cleaning for me this year is centered around my car. One thing I've been itching to do is clean out the engine area and under the hood where all that black crud has built up over 14 years. I started doing it a little bit today, just using a Brillo Pad with soap and water to clean the steal/aluminum around the sides, front and under the hood.

My question is this, is it alright to get water sprayed under the hood? For example after I've been scrubbing for a while, use the hose to spray off the soap bubbles and black crud. I know there are electrical connections etc under the hood so that's what I was worried about.

Thanks ahead of time!
Trevor
