Daylight Running lights - where did they go? 200

Hi

My understanding is that Volvo introduced Daylight running lights with the 244/264 series. The 700 series had them too. Volvo made a real thing about them at the time, with statistics given about how safe they made cars.

I do notice that today, at least in Australia, there is a tendency to dark colours, harder to see than the colours of the '70s and '80s. When you see a 240/700 coming, it is obvious what it is, and it's also obvious that it is there - because of the daylight lights.

What happened to them? Was Volvo wrong? They don't even seem to be an option.
