Weird hood problem 200 1983

line up hood so it doesn't rub on the cowl and is aligned to your liking. snug up the bolts on the hinges. next on the radiator support panel there are 3 bolts that mount the metal part that the hood latch secures into. loosen these bolts and let the plate move so that the pin and latch on the hood line up with the plate. tighten the 3 bolts. hood should release now.

basically what happened when you replaced your hood is that the latch lines up differently so it won't release from the plate in the radiator support panel.
