Weird Electrical Problem ... 120-130

OK ... I installed a Delco-Remy alternator .. the one with the internal voltage regulator on my car a while ago ..... I started noticing that if the car sat more than overnight ... like 2 days without being driven... that often the battery would be flat ... I mean REALLY flat ... not even a solenoid click flat .... So I took my trusty test light .... disconnected all other leads to the battery except the black lead from the plug on the alternator that runs to the positive terminal of the battery .... disconnected the ground and hooked the light between the ground terminal and the ground strap .... I have a dim light from the test light. If I disconnect the black lead from the alternator the light goes out. Other than installing a separate switch on this line .... anyone got any ideas what is going on ?
