Weird Electrical Problem ... 120-130

If you had an AMP meter in the car you would see this as a discharge when the engine was off.

If I understand your explanation right, it sounds like what you are calling the "black" wire, the alternator output wire, is discharging the battery... when everything is right, the rectifying diodes in the alt. should NOT conduct when alt is not producing power and so serve to isolate the alt from the battery...so it sounds like you might have a diode conducting (all the time, i.e. shorted) in the alt...I suggest you let an automotive electrical shop check out the alt.

...not that wierd...was this one of those $40 "Rebuilt, Special" alts?
