Weird Electrical Problem ... 120-130

Brett;

So if you bought just one more of the $40 "Rebuilt Specials", you'd be up to $120, which is just about what ONE of the official GM/AC-Delco rebuilds costs, and which would likely still be working for you...I don't believe in spending money unnecessarily either, but it was Cameron (Pertronix Install Thread on 1800 board) who most recently said it again..."You get what you pay for."

BUT, we're not 100% sure it is the alt. yet, especially if you replaced it, and that didn't fix the problem...remove and let a shop check alt. (both)!

Incedentally, your Ham Radio background should also tell you that if you add a diode in series, it will put another forward voltagedrop into the circuit, which will effectively decrease the Voltage available to push the current charging the battery (not good)....so, the fix is to troubleshoot, locate for sure, and fix the problem correctly, and not come up with a workaround!
