Volts gauge - what is it telling me? 200

I have an 84 242T and it runs fine. However, I am not sure what I am seeing on the volt gauge. At start up, the needle is at 12 o'clock or perhaps even a bit further to the right. As I drive for 30 minutes or so it begins creeping leftward, to about what I would call 11.5 or so. Turn on the turn signals and it keeps time with the lights. Turn on the wipers and blower motor and it goes lower still, but never in the red.

I have replaced the battery and alternator in the past 6 months. It starts immediately when turning the key and points to 12 again.

Can someone tell me what the gauge is telling me and whether I need to look into it further?

thanks, dave
