Weird Electrical Problem ... 120-130

I had a simliar problem with my 1800 when I did the conversion. If I recall correctly there was one little wire that was attached to the ignition that triggered the alternator to start "charging" when the engine was running. Without it, the car would jump start every time and run like a champ until you tried to start it again.
just my two cents in a long list of suggestions and collective head scratching.
