looking for conversion suggestions 700 1990

I have compared both blocks and can say they are the same. The "castings that arn't drilled" are for the oil feed pipe for the turbo and for the return pipe. The 16 valve engine uses the same oil pump as it's 8 valve counterpart and it is located in the pan. What you are refering to is the external balance shaft on the 16 valve engine.Incidently the car runs fine without it,just not as smoothly.Which isn't to say I'm reccomending removing it,just an fyi! The pistons are also different for the B230FT.Your right about having different manifolds etc also.I have done the swap and would reccomend a donor car as previously stated. The 16 valve uses the same motor mounts, water pump etc also.It is just like a NA B230 with different head and related parts.
