front caliper pistons stuck on 240; any easy fix?

I am in the process of putting new brake pads on the front of my 89 240 and it looks like the inside pistons are sticking in the Girling calipers.

I cant get them push in far enough to fit the new pad. However, the pistons do seem to push out OK because when I put a thin wooden spacer where the pad goes and pressed on the breaks, the 2 pistons tightened up on the spacer.

I was hoping that they would free up with the outward motion but I had no luck though trying to pry the pistons back into the caliper.

I have some silicon lube but I dont think I will be able to get it to where it needs to be without dissasembly.

Any ideas on how I can free them up without taking the calipers off and doing a rebuild or replacement?

I could use some advice.
