Peter Egan at Road & Track once wrote a column about rope towing....

One of the points he cited was that you gotta determine which vehicle should be the "tower", and which should be the "towee".

In your case Bob, I recommend that any car you choose to tow on your trailer should be well equipped with a trailer hitch so it can drag the Ford back home if need be.

And it might be a good idea to have a good roof rack so you can tote the remainder of the trailer home too....
