1971 B20E fuel economy 1800

I am hopeful to learn of others experiences with fuel consumption for the 1971 B20E stock motor. I had previously gotten as high as 31+mpg after 150,000 miles.

I accepted some bad advice on how to rebuild. I decided to do valve work, bore .030 over and add an ipd street cam. Since the work, I can only get about 26 mpg. I realize that we nolonger have real gasoline as we did in previous years. I would like to learn about experiences of others. What sort of economy should I expect? Also I do not have an IPD control box but only the original. could I expect to get higher mpg with the IPD control box?
