So how hard *is* it anyway to remove a crank position sensor? 200 1989

While I was trying to run down this no start problem with my new '89 245 on Thursday, I was initially suspicious of the crank position sensor. I went through the 700 FAQ and got the chills reading about !Be Careful! removing the sensor from the weak aluminum holder. If this holder breaks, you've got to split the trans from the bellhousing to replace it. Yikes!! I do want to replace this thing this summer as I don't know the history of this car, but I'm thankful I didn't have to do it right away.

So...is breaking the holder a *real* hazard or a one-in-a-thousand thing? No prying, no rocking to get it out?

Also -- how's the easiest way to get the screw unscrewed? The only way I could even get my hand onto it was to come in from above the exhaust manifold. Pretty tight back there... U-joint and socket?
