Strange diff in a 140

I was under one of my 144s at the weekend, and noticed that the diff did not have the usual fins (for cooling?) on the underneath. It looked much more like the diff on my 1968 122S. All my other 140s, form a 1968 to a 1974 (and my 1981 240) have the finned diff.
I don't know what year this car is, other than it is pre 1973. It is an ex-rally car,so originality is highly suspect. The diff is an LSD, so maybe that is my answer? Did LSDs come in a non-finned case? Are there any problems anybody knows about with this sort of diff/casing?

Regards

John H
