True, if your paint is cracking you must take it down to the sheet metal, otherwise it will continue to crack through the new paint job.

Orange peal, paint roughness, is caused by poor cleaning, prep, and or paint application. You can get the cheapest paint to look good. You can go ahead and fight the battles with them and try to get the problems corrected but they may be better fighting consumer battles than painting.

Did you get your money's worth? Yes, you got what you paid for. I doubt that it would last six years.
