Do I need to time the engine after head removal? 200

No doubt, as you will have to remove the timing belt to remove the head to get to the head gasket. Three words of warning: (1)DRAIN THE COOLANT - I have seen several articles from credible sources stating that coolant getting into the oil will form an acid that reacts with the main bearings and rod bearings to "etch" them and destroy an otherwise good engine (2) buy a Volvo belt - they have timing marks to line the three pulley positions back up (crank/cam shaft/distributor) and (3) use the marks on the belt and the notches or marks on the three pulleys. I just did my timing belt last weekend, got camshaft one notch off. The car started fine and timed properly according to a timing light. Tried to drive it and it had no power. Had to basically take everything back off and start over (I was pissed). Hope this helps.
