740 will not start 700 1990

There is some information posted in the FAQ by an engineer regarding the ECU and your particular problem. The ECU "can" (and I stress - can) fail and give you the symptoms you describe. I have seen one ECU in my time that had the Fuel Relay power up sequence fail and a new ECU was put in for my mecahnics client.

However, if I were you, 1st find out for sure if this is the problem. If it is and you don't mind the patchwork repair you have done then leave it and the car should run fine. BUT, if it bothers you then it is off to the friendly Bosch parts provider to look for another ECU. Personally if it was me, I would use the patch work repair and avoid the $1000 Canadian Peso it costs for a new computer.

Just my 2 cents,

Tim
