Turbo Crank Case Vent Hose 200

Am I missing something here? IPD sells the turbo crank case vent hose for $24.50, Volvo sells it for almost twice that. I went to the local parts emporium and bought 3 feet of Gates rubber hose for $3.00, slipped it inside my old foam cover, plugged it into the turbo air inlet pipe (a nice tight fit) and onto the breather box. It seems to work just fine.
