need code for replacement radio/cassette 700 1991

My 91 740 had the cassette go out. I found a replacement in a local salvage yard from a 92 740. They said it would work. The plugs all seem to fit. However, I can't find the security code because the VIN for the vehicle has been lost and the car was long ago destroyed. Any ideas? Thanks
