gasket identity - help! 200 1981

For the fuel distributor / air flow meter support bracket, I recently got a new gasket through the dealer that appears to be the correct size, but looks nothing at all like what was on the car originally. The original gasket looked sort of like a strange squiggly o-ring type deal that fit in a grooved channel on the bracket. The new gasket is a straight paper type gasket that covers the entire mating surface between the bracket and the block. Does the new paper gasket supersede the old type, or are they supposed to be used in conjunction with each other?

Thanks,
Jeff
