struts 200 1990

i have a pair of new struts, and i want to put them on my recently acquired '90 wagon. only problem is they are in my old '83 wagon. is it worth it to take them both to the shop and have the guy take them out of the old one and put them in the new one? or will it be around the same price as just buying another set of new ones and having them installed. if this is the case would it be better to buy them on line and bring them to the shop to have them installed?
