This was fun, sunroof blew open at highway speeds 700 1986

My car is an 86 745 with electric sunroof (installed by me). I was trying to close my sunroof while on the highway and I hear a really loud noise and realize that the top has lifted into the air. I reach out the window and discover it is at about 45 degrees from horizontal. I stop ASAP to close it. Now the back of the sunroof doesn't come up high enough to make a good seal. I guess something is broken now. Any thoughts on what went wrong? I can hardly imagine how bad it would have been if it had completely ripped off.

It's time to conquer my fear of the unknown again in my car. I just got over that with my instrument cluster's odometer.
