Wiring harness ghetto repair. 200

Hi,
My engine wiring harnesses aren't looking too healthy. They are crumbling! I don't want to go and replace the wiring harnesses becuase they are expensive and take too much time to do. I was wondering if I could do it a ghetto way. I was planning on getting rid of the connectors and using butt connectors instead. Also I plan on reinsulating all the wires with liquid electrical tape. Anything wrong with this plan?
