Cut Spring Consensus 700

Hi- Sorry about the empty post. I have an 88 744t and I wanted to lower the car for both looks and performance and I have been told numerous times that cutting the springs is an 'effective' way of doing. So, because I am cheep I was going to follow this path of destruction. Has anyone else doen this and are you happy with the results? I am only looking to lower the car an inch or so.
