Success!!!

After a few failed attempts of my own using a MAP gas torch, I finally drove the car to a local exhaust shop. I was honest when I called them and told them I was having trouble removing it and they quoted me $20 over the phone to extract the old one.

I'm glad I got the quote because I was there almost an hour, and assisting the shop tech too. It was finally removed after 3 tries of heating the manifold using an Acetylene torch, followed by using the large deep reinforced socket I had on loan from Autozone. (good thing I had the tools with me because they were short an O2 sensor wrench and the Snap-On truck wouldn't arrive till tomorrow.) The third try was the charm and it came out, but not without a lot of effort and grunting of the technician who was also using a breakerbar.

Praise God, -and I'm off to Dayton, Ohio.
