electrical question-console please help me

Hi, I recently put in a new dash unit because my old one cracked when I replaced the dashboard- I found one that was perfect but it was from a newer volvo, I dont remember if it was a 240 gl or dl. Anyway, it has an rpm gauge instead of where my clock was on my display-is there a way to hook this up? And what do those two blue and grey wires that attach to the back do anyway? This new unit doesnt have a place for them like my old one did-are they important? Lastly, my speedometer has NEVER worked, nor the cruise control, I checked to make sure that black wire was attached firmly to the center-what else could be making the speedometer not function? Thanks for any help with this. -DeHaven.
