V6 b280 LED engine test light questions 700 1988

i was wondering what the light is suppose to do when ever the engine is supposedly running fine....i.e. does the light just stay on constantly? or stay off? the light comes on in my car when i turn the ignition on, but after i crank the car and it starts, the light stays off....any help would be appreciated.
